JENTERANEWS.com – Flash floods struck Lengkong District in Sukabumi Regency, West Java on Saturday (29/6/2024) at approximately 17.00 WIB. Numerous houses and places of worship were submerged, and the bridge that connected villages in the vicinity was also demolished.
Dadi Supardi, the District Disaster Management Officer (P2BK) of Lengkong, reported that no injuries or fatalities occurred in the disaster that affected multiple villages in Tegallega Village.
According to the data collected, one house in Cibogo Village was submerged, while three houses and a place of worship in Bojonghaur Village were also submerged. Additionally, one house in Babakan Bantarsari Village was affected.
Furthermore, three houses in Leuwibengkong Village were submerged, two bridges in Tegaldatar Village were swept away by the river current, and one bridge in Cigirang Village was severed due to the flash flood.
The flash flood was caused by heavy rainfall from the afternoon until night, resulting in the overflow of rivers in the residential areas. As a result, eight houses and one place of worship were submerged, and three connecting bridges were damaged.
P2BK Lengkong is currently present at the scene to assess the impact of the flash flood. However, the latest information indicates that the water level, which previously reached approximately 50 cm, has started to decrease.
Additionally, the Sukabumi District Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has collaborated with various relevant agencies to plan the next steps for disaster management, particularly in relation to the three damaged or severed bridges.(*)
